Breed Shaping, Maintenance Cuts & Summer Trims
Clipper & Scissor Trims
The Styling Process
Your dog is bathed and cleansed thoroughly to enhance the condition of the coat ready for clipping or scissoring. The conditioning shampoo doesn’t contain alcohol, parabens, soaps or SLS, which means it is kind to your dog’s skin and coat. Excess moisture is removed from your dog’s coat and then your dog is thoroughly dried with a blow drier to help dislodge loose coat.
The coat must be dry and tangle-free to ensure clipper blades can glide smoothly through the coat or allow for low resistance when scissoring. Hair is trimmed by clippers or scissors according to the breed style and how well your dog tolerates being groomed.
A health assessment is carried out and any abnormal findings are reported back to you, a note is made on your dog’s grooming record to ensure it has improved/resolved by the next groom. The health check includes: Coat and skin condition, Eyes and ears, Teeth and gums, Nails and Groin.
What Coats can be Styled?
Curly, combination, drop and wire coats are ideal for styling. Breeds that can be styled need regular visits to the groomer as well as a consistent home grooming schedule. Combination coats are prone to shedding and consist of short and long hairs. Wire coats are hard and bristly hairs with minimal shedding. Curly coats are difficult to maintain as the hair sheds and remains within the coat causing it to matt.
Styled Dogs
Different trims can improve your dog’s appearance by accentuating the features of its breed. Coats can be styled to the correct breed standard shape or clip off / pet trims can be performed for easy maintenance.
